The annual Frederic Fox Lecture Series showcases an emerging and thought provoking topic relevant to business education. Named in memoriam of Robert and Richard Fox’s late father, Frederic Fox, the event offers a premier avenue for innovative, community-driven research while also providing the Fox School of Business an opportunity to engage with local, national, and international business and civic leaders.

The Musser Award is awarded to a Fox School faculty member for outstanding research achievement. It also recognizes exceptional individual research accomplishments that benefit the larger research community, including both academia and industry. Named for its founder, Warren V. Musser, the award promotes an ethic in which exceptional achievements in business research and community development are seen as compatible, symbiotic goals.

Throughout his career, Warren Musser has combined entrepreneurial spirit with a collaborative style based on investment in people and their ideas. As founder and longtime leader of Safeguard Scientifics, he formed numerous technology-oriented companies that helped create the Greater Philadelphia region’s reputation for technological innovation. In addition to his business endeavors, Musser has led many charitable and community causes, including the Temple University-based Safeguard Scientifics Center for Economic Education. The Center brings business, economic, and entrepreneurial education to K-12 teachers and students throughout the region and the state.

The Young Scholars Interdisciplinary Forum (YSIF) is a biannual event open to current Fox School faculty and PhD students for seed funding grants to undertake novel interdisciplinary research projects. The traditional YSIF seed funding grants in the amount of $500 to $5,000, with an annual amount of $50,000, will be available for proposal submission groups seeking small or medium outside funding grants.

The PhD Student Research Competition is an annual school-wide research forum that affords top-tier PhD students and alumni the opportunity to present their research, receive awards and begin building their academic resumes. Categories include research from first year, second year, and third-to-fourth year doctoral students; dissertation proposals, and completed dissertations. Faculty judge the rigor of the research design, execution, and data analysis; the novelty of the research; the students’ presentation, including their oral performance, graphical poster, and written paper; and the research’s contribution to theory, practice, or policy.

Are you a Fox faculty member looking to establish proof-of-concept, conduct a pilot study, or overcome a developmental hurdle or technical challenge in your research?

The Fox Research Seed Funding Program is a year-round opportunity for Fox School faculty. The program is designed to infuse applied research projects with the necessary funding to support the potential to receive additional funding from external sources. Projects that are funded will receive support for individual projects in the range of $5,000 to $20,000, with the goal of yearly funding under this program to reach upwards of $50,000.
