The $100,000 scholarship supports students studying financial planning at the Fox School of Business.
PHILADELPHIA, September 28, 2021 — Financial Planning students at Temple University’s Fox School of Business will benefit from $100,000 worth of endowed scholarships created by Radnor Financial Advisors. The investment by Radnor Financial will benefit Temple students, their families and their expanded community.
Radnor Financial is a boutique, fee-only financial services firm that delivers wealth management, financial planning, and tax preparation and accounting services. Michael N. Mattise, Managing Partner, President and Chief Investment Officer, said the firm has benefited from the valuable contributions made by the high-quality students from Temple’s Financial Planning program.
“We have been impressed with the caliber of Temple students participating in our internship program, and a number of graduates from Temple have found a professional home at Radnor,” Mattise says. “We are thrilled to show our long-term support to the Financial Planning program through the Radnor Financial Advisors Scholarship Fund. Supporting scholarships is a way for us to carry our mission through to the community—making college more affordable has a positive ripple effect on a student’s financial future and can lead to greater achievements over the long term.”
“I would like to thank Radnor for the investment and their partnership. Financial planning has a direct impact on the success of our community,” Dean Ron Anderson of the Fox School says. “Scholarships are critical to students as they earn their degree and pursue their dreams in higher education. Temple University’s vision includes advancing the quality of life for our community through education. That is particularly true through financial planning, where the knowledge our students gain is applied to not only their success but the success of their friends, their community and their clients. Radnor Financial’s investment in our financial planning students translates into an investment in the success of our students and their future.”
The Fox School of Business introduced the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Financial Planning in 2015 to prepare students for careers in this in-demand field. Financial planning students thrive after graduation through the school’s focus on Experiential Learning, professional development and life-long learning. Students learn to protect, grow and manage assets, and to take a holistic approach that enables their clients to identify and attain lifestyle and retirement goals through financial management, retirement and estate planning, and tax-efficient investing. The major prepares students to help future clients meet their financial goals through the proper management of financial resources. Financial planning is a growing, in-demand field that combines the analytical aspects of finance with the interpersonal skills needed for effective client communication.
The Radnor Financial Advisors Scholarship Fund helps further enhance the Financial Planning undergraduate degree program. The Fox School is one of the few schools in the country to offer a designated financial planning undergraduate degree. Students who earn the degree are eligible to sit for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) examination upon graduation, a unique feature of the program.
“We feel that supporting strong academic candidates in their pursuit of a financial planning major not only provides a fiscal boost to students but is also an investment in the future young professionals of the community at large,” Mattise says. “Temple’s program promotes a wealth of knowledge, and it is our hope that by making a top-tier education more accessible to the next generation of financial services professionals, that knowledge will be converted into the kind of wealth that has a net positive effect on the economy. We are honored to contribute to the success of future colleagues in the financial planning profession.”
