How many of you have considered business academia as a career option? Or, for that matter, how many of you know what your faculty does besides teaching? It’s okay if you don’t. As undergraduate students, we didn’t either. So, what if we tell you that business academia is an extremely sexy profession, likely to get you a lot of attention in parties? What if we tell you that it allows you to do what you love and get paid a lot for it? You don’t have to believe us. Just attend the workshop and see the evidence for yourself.

In this workshop, we will explore the unknown, the mysterious world of business academia. We will share our lives with you. We will bust some myths students typically have about business academics. We’ll discuss our favorite myths like “You must be really good at math.” and “You must have spent a lot for your PhD.” The list is endless and entertaining. Join us and learn more about what being a business academic means, the road to being a business academic and the amazing opportunities it can bring you.

Does Airbnb help or hurt neighborhoods? How can we encourage consumers to adopt healthy behaviors? How do we encourage people to be savvy about taking risks? Could we use social media to help society? Answering these questions is not only important from a business perspective, but also from a societal perspective.

In this hands-on workshop, we will look at how we can study these important questions using a scientific approach. We will talk about how we can define our problem statement, identify the methods used to study it, collect data and come up with meaningful, applied conclusions.
