Students streamed onto the sidewalk near Broad Street wearing their finest business attire. They weren’t en route to job interviews, per se, but the event they attended boasts a similar level of professionalism.
Hosted by the Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) at Temple University’s Fox School of Business, the Fox Fall Connection achieved record levels of success: 94 employers and nearly 1,000 students pre-registered for the Sept. 17 event at Great Court at Mitten Hall.
“Consistent with the feedback we have received over the last decade, the employer comments for this year’s event have been extremely positive,” said Corinne M. Snell, Assistant Dean of CSPD. “They’ve remarked that this was an outstanding event where they saw a lot of what they called ‘really good candidates.’
“Our goal is being able to maximize their time on campus by seeing large numbers of polished, well-prepared candidates at an event like this, and to have these employers return to campus semester after semester. We aim to exceed their expectations each and every time.”
Fox Fall Connection provides opportunities for students to shake hands and share resumes with representatives from top employers in the region. Whether students were looking for full-time employment following graduation or a summer internship between semesters, Fox Fall Connection catered to everyone.
Representatives from the following companies and corporations participated in Fox Fall Connection: Comcast Corporation; Deloitte Consulting, LLP; Merck; PepsiCo; PricewaterhouseCoopers; Subaru of America; Vanguard; and more.
Only Fox students were eligible to attend the four-hour event, which required a few prerequisites. Namely, students had to have been “CSPD’d” – a process that requires workshops to introduce them to CSPD’s services, create a FoxNet profile to alert them of new job postings and attend workshops to develop their resumes and have them critiqued.
“The record-breaking number of employers, combined with the large student turnout supports the ‘CSPD Difference,’” Snell said.
CSPD has a track record of success. Fox’s MBA students have posted a 100-percent summer internship placement rate since 2012, and a 95.1-percent job placement rate – regarded as one of the best figures in the nation. Of undergraduate students who have used CSPD services since 2013, 94 percent have been placed.
