Biography

Alan J. Izenman is Professor of Statistics and Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Statistics. He received his B.Sc.(Econ.) degree in 1967 from the London School of Economics and his Ph.D. in Statistics in 1972 from the University of California, Berkeley.
He has held faculty positions at Tel-Aviv University and Colorado State University, and visiting positions at the University of Chicago, the University of Minnesota, Stanford University, and the University of Edinburgh. During 1992-1994, he was Director of the Statistics and Probability Program at the National Science Foundation. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association.
His research interests are primarily in multivariate analysis, time series analysis, nonparametric curve estimation, data mining, machine learning, and bioinformatics, and the application of statistical methods to law and public policy.
