Like many, college students have had their lives disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. But one thing that has continued to hold true is the importance of internships. Gary Blau, Daniel Goldberg and Corinne Snell found that seniors both prior to and during the pandemic with at least one internship were more likely to participate in additional professional development activities, such as joining and being actively involved in a student professional organization (SPO). They also had a better outlook on their employment after graduation.
This demonstrates the continued need for career professional development centers to support students in their internship journeys as they navigate the unique changes the pandemic has brought to the job search like fully virtual recruitment.
