Although U.S. healthcare systems have implemented multiple electronic health records (EHR) platforms to improve organizational functioning, challenges associated with their use have contributed to an undue amount of clinician burnout and turnover.
To improve employee outcomes, Sezgin Ayabakan investigated how switching EHR vendors and moving to a single-sourced platform affected user satisfaction
Ayabakan found that moving to a single-sourced platform gradually increased user satisfaction for health systems that were experienced with EHR and able to provide support throughout the transition.
Before making the switch, administrators are encouraged to assess their overall competency with EHRs and communicate the benefits of single-source to gain user buy-in.
